The 21st day of March (the 3rd month of the year) was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. Every year on March 21st, World Down Syndrome Day is observed to create awareness about Down syndrome. On this day the children came into school in odd socks to help raise awareness.
A huge well done to these amazing Year 6 pupils who took part in a recent Netball Tournament against three of our Trust Primary Schools. Each team played 6 games and Heaton Avenue won every single game and brought the silverware home to prove it!!

They shone on stage ⭐️ They really are a credit to Heaton Avenue and we are so lucky to have such talented and amazing dancers to represent our school! They tried their best and gave it their all and we couldn’t be more proud! Well done girls, you were just fantastic 🤩

Well done to our Year 5 & 6 Handball Team, who won a recent inter-school tournament against our partner schools. We are super proud. You all did an amazing job!
Year 6 took part in the Armistice Parade in Cleckheaton. Our school ambassadors were also lucky enough to be part of the parade and laid a wreath on behalf of our school. Each and every one of our Year 6 children made us so proud and demonstrated exemplary behaviour - really showing our community what ‘good humans’ we have at Heaton Avenue.
A HUGE well done to our Year 5/6 Girls Football Team who played in their first match against Boothroyd Primary School. After only two training sessions, they won 5-1! Each one of you gave it your best, you were all amazing!!! ⚽️
