Today, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Rocksteady Music into school to not only perform a music concert but also teach the children about the musical instruments they are able to learn from September.
They then carried out two workshops - one with KS1 and another with KS2. As part of these workshops they welcomed children on to stage to have a go at creating a band and trying some of the instruments.
The children had so much fun and the atmosphere was amazing. Letters went home today explaining how to sign your child up to these lessons should you wish to do so.
Year 6 have had an absolutely amazing time in London last week! They visited The Globe Theatre where they completed a Macbeth drama workshop; had a trip on the Thames Clipper followed by the London Eye; had a tour around London stopping at the main sights polished off with all you can eat buffet at Pizza Hut, Leicester Square. The day was then finished with the totally ‘wicked’ Wicked. This was a huge highlight of the day thoroughly enjoyed by all! It was truly magical and definitely deserved its standing ovation!
Well done to our Mellors catering team! We had an unannounced visit from Kirklees Council last week and maintained our grade 5 Hygiene Rating. 👏👏👏
Year 5 have been enjoying Cookery Club this half-term. Today's bake was chocolate chip cookies! Anyone fancy sharing??
The children in EYFS are enjoying a performance of The Pied Piper from the Hobgoblin Theatre Group this afternoon. They are having lots of fun and laughing lots! 😀

We would like you all to join us in welcoming Mr Heath to the KS1 team! He will be with us until the end of the Summer Term. He has been a huge hit with the children already, and we believe he will be a valuable member of the team here at Heaton Avenue.
Please say hello and make him feel welcome if you see him around!
Good Luck Mr Heath!
We are pleased to announce that the Winner of Heaton Avenue’s Got Talent 2024 went to Suneet for his amazing Indian dancing and drum!!!! It clearly shows just how much time and dedication he has spent in perfecting his performance. A very worthy winner Suneet, well done!!!🤩🏆🥁🥇
This week our School Council were extremely grateful to receive a cheque for £500 gifted by The Royal Antediluvian Order Of Buffaloes. The children have chosen to spend the money on much-needed playground equipment for them to enjoy during their playtime and lunchtime breaks. Thank you to Michael and his fellow Buffaloes, it was kind of you to think of us, and it is much appreciated. 😊
